Young Adults Cooking Birthday Party Ideas

Cooking Birthday Party Ideas. This is an idea for a birthday party theme for college-age young adults. My latest celebration was for my twentieth birthday, back in July.

I called up my closest friends for a total of about six guests. My friends and I live the college dorm lifestyle and we've learned many students don't know how to make anything besides noodles.

My plan was to create a fun dinner for all of us and include a cooking lesson along the way. I stocked up on measuring cups, measuring spoons and spatulas for the gift bags I gave to each guest.

The idea is to give them the tools and knowledge to create good meals with limited equipment and resources.

For our dinner we created bean salad, grilled chicken, corn on the cob and a quick and easy drink recipe.

The price of food is kept low for the student budget and the recipes were simple and delicious. Best of all, it could all be made inside a dorm or apartment. The most complicated tool needed is a small griddle or flat top.

It helps open the student's eyes to the ease of simple recipes and to show it doesn't have to be expensive to eat well. All the gift bag items were purchased at a local store, we used a less expensive but still durable brand. I also made aprons for my friends to use in the kitchen.

It was a fun night that did more than fill our stomachs with good food. It was a helpful lesson in eating well while minding a budget and our limited sources.

I think a parent with a child in college can try this idea with their child and his or her friends. It's a fun get together before school starts back off and the kids are off to college with more confidence in the kitchen.
