The theme we went with for my daughters 13th birthday party was Hawaiian. For the decorations we placed fish nets on the ceiling filled with balloons and tropical animals in the living room, also we had fish hanging down from the ceiling.
For the kitchen we set up blow up animals on the table like parrots, flamingos, tropical birds etc. an then we surrounded them with palm trees. We also used tiki head cups and tiki men plates. For our small living room we strung a line of paper tiki men from every corner of our living room sort of making a X. On our stair case we placed a long blue fish net with paper fishes hanging from it.
For our backyard we placed leis on every other fence post with a few blow up birds on every 15th fence post. For places we thought were empty but didn’t need extreme decorations, we just filled them with balloons.
For the cake, we made it round and sea blue; we placed edible shells around the whole cake besides the top. On the top of the cake we had 4 palm trees surrounding my daughter’s picture saying happy 13th birthday party, we love you.
The games we played that were related to the actual theme were the Hawaiian limbo contest and tacky tourist. In the limbo game we simply just went under a pole and lowered it until the last person was standing, and for the tacky tourist game, we had 3 buckets of clothes that contained a shirt, pants, and a hat.
Then the teenagers had to put on the clothes and run down a "track" and come back, take off the clothes and pass it to the next person. The winners were the team who finished it first. She really liked her teenage Hawaiian birthday party. but For the recommend age for this theme, I would say 8 – 15.
