Sweet 16 Birthday Party Ideas

This is an actual masquerade ball party in the works. My little sister is having her sweet sixteen in September and my parents are spending a fortune on it. They've decided to do a masquerade ball.

This girl is buying a big fancy dress (or I should say my parents are buying said dress) and they have rented a venue and the whole thing is being catered.

Sweet 16 Birthday Party Ideas : The Masquerade Theme

Anyway the idea is that is it a black and white masquerade party. Everyone is instructed to wear only black and white things except my sixteen year old sis, who will be wearing a red dress.

Everyone also has to come with a masquerade mask on, so no one will know who anyone else is!

Sweet 16 Birthdays : The Food

They are however keeping the food minimal and mostly limited to desserts and appetizers. I know for sure there will be strawberries with little tuxedos of white and dark chocolate, two chocolate fountains - one milk chocolate and one white chocolate, and I'm praying for an open bar.

The cake is another thing all together it is keeping with the color scheme but it is a topsy turvy cake reminiscent of something you would see at the mad hatter's tea party.

Sweet 16 Birthday Ideas : The Decorations

The table scape will also keep with the classy theme with crisp white linens and black runners with white roses for the centerpieces.

I'm most interested in how the whole masquerade element will play out this party is sort of combining two completely different ideas a little formal whimsy you could say.

Masquerade Ball Party Activities

As far as activities this is going to be a dance party for sure there is a DJ coming in to drop some beats I'm hoping for karaoke too that would make the whole thing worth it.

The venue is really nice I went to some party or other there a few years back the whole outdoor area is covered in white lights to it will be quite lovely and add to the theme at night.

Overall it should be a pretty crazy get together to celebrate my little sister. I can't wait! I wish I knew how to submit photos I have a few...
