Looking for some Spiderman birthday party theme ideas? Chris from Boston, Massachusetts shares his ideas for a Spidey good time with decoration tips, and activities including face painting, mask making, a spidey climbing race, and a web throwing contest.
We recently did a Spiderman themed birthday party for my five year old son.
Some of the decorations were store-bought, as were the invitations, but we did a lot of the work at home ourselves, too.
For take-home gift bags for the kids, we included spider rings, gummy worms, and Silly String "web slingers". We also used the spider rings on napkins, to hold them down so that they wouldn't blow away.
For balloons, we blew up regular multi-colored balloons and then used puffy paint to draw webs onto them. Streamers were formed into webs, too, and put up on our deck in the corners as part of the decorations.
We also did a spiderman birthday cake from scratch. The cake was a chocolate cake that we used red gel icing on to create a spider web, and then we placed a small Spiderman figurine on the web to give it a 3D look.
For the Spiderman birthday activities, we divided up into stations, since there were far too many kids to work with at one time.
Spiderman Face Painting : At one station, a friend and I both painted the boys' faces, which they absolutely loved.
Web Throwing Contest : We took old fishing nets and cut them up into three foot squares. The kids had a web throwing contest to see who could throw their spiderweb the furthest.
Saving the Day Game: We told the kids they needed to "save the day" because Doc Oc had planted plutonium balls around the party to disrupt it. We took my son's old kiddie wading pool and used one of those old Nerf suction guns to "grab" balls and pull them back. The balls of course were the "plutonium balls".
Spidey Climbing Race: Timing the kids going up the rope net on our backyard swing set was another station, and one that was highly contested. The boys were so competitive about their times for such little kids!
Spiderman Birthday Masks: At the final station, the kids took paper plates that we'd pre-cut to look like the outline of Spiderman's face and colored them. We then strung strings through a whole on each side of the face so that the kids had Spiderman masks that they could wear.
A few of the other parents caught wind of our Spiderman birthday party theme ahead of time and wrapped gifts in Spiderman wrapping paper, which was a great addition to the party, too!
