Peace Sign Birthday Party 1

This is a unique peace sign birthday party theme for a 2nd birthday! When failing to come up with an original birthday party for my son who was turning two, I found myself with an incredibly amazing a totally creative idea after showing him how to hold his fingers to show that he was going to be two. A "peace" party!

When he held his little fingers up to show me two, I instantly thought of the international sign of "peace."

Once I chose the theme the possibilities were then endless. From the invitations to decorations everything had a peace symbol, just two fingers in the shape of a "V" and the traditional image as well.

From there I went on to incorporate other "hippie" elements. The color scheme was tie-dye. I switched out my curtains with handmade tie dye fabric and used the same as table covers.

We also found a bakery that could do a tie-dye effect on the cake. I then printed out the two finger peace sign (which I found in clip art) onto various colored papers and taped them all over the walls. We used multicolored balloons and streamers to anchor the tye dye.

Peace Sign Birthday Party Wands: I also made little streamer wands for the kids which doubled as centerpieces when I put then into vases, using the same clip-art peace sign onto colored paper to about the size of 2 inches.

I then cut them out, glued them together at the edges, stuffed them with ribbon. Before closing, I stuck a wood skewer into the bottom and glued the edge shut. The kids loved them and they were so in keeping with the peace theme.

All invitations were emailed so as not to waste resources. And for food we went with a vegetarian theme. Blue chips with hummus. Fruit and veggie trays. Cheese, tomato and lettuce on spinach or tomato wraps cut into pinwheels.

Instead of games, parents helped their kids make a tie-dyed t-shirt. It was a huge success and so much fun. Peace!
