Ladybug Birthday Party

My daughter recently turned two years old and we wanted to put on quite a production.
We settled on a lady bug birthday party theme and it was absolutely adorable.
I made invitations out of black, red, and white cardstock, craft eyes, and black pipe cleaners. I cut circles out of each cardstock and created a body and wings of a lady bug.
I cut the white cardstock smaller and placed it in between the layers of red and black and wrote the invitation essentials there. When the guests opened it to read the invitation it appeared as if the lady bug was flying.
The Lady Bug Presents Table Then we started with decorating the house with red, white, and black crepe paper streamers and decorating the tables with red tablecloths.
To make the tables more decorative we added black circles cut out of black construction paper.
We also purchased black, red, and white balloons and placed them around the house.
The Snack Bar
No Spot Was Left Untouched : Even the High Chair!
The LadyBug Birthday Cakes We made a cake with a lady bug on top, and then a guest brought a second one that was bought from a store. They were both so cute!
I dressed my daughter up in red and black with wings and she looked just like a lady bug. When the guests arrived we handed out lady bug antennas made out of cardboard and black pipe cleaners instead of the usual party hats.
We held the party outside in the garden so that it was more natural to a lady bug's habitat.
We served food that we created into "lady bug meals": salad- leaves for the ladybug, burgers- rocks, chips-pebbles, basically making each food something from nature.
The Party Favors We had a lady bug pull string pinata which we purchased from party city, and also we had bubbles to blow and small lady bug party favors.
The entire party revolved around the life of a lady bug. My daughter enjoyed the ladybug birthday party and so did all of her 2 year old friends.
I added ribbons to the pinata and displayed it on a table. It did double duty as an activity and a decoration. Categories: Nature and Flower Themes,
