Fish Out of Water Birthday Party Ideas. I recently threw a birthday party for my 4 year old cousin. She's a little fish out of water, I'd say. She loves going to the zoo to see the fish and LOVES being in the water. So I threw her a "Life In The Water" themed party.
I decorated the house in deep sea blue colors and hung fish from clear string so it made it look like they were swimming. I also rented a bubble machine, which if I might add worked wonders with the decorations. It made the kids feel like they were in the water with the fish. They absolutely loved it.
For the meal we had "octopus salad". It's my favorite treat for kids. For the salad you need shell shaped noodles, alfredo sauce, and blue food coloring. Boil the noodles till soft, then add the alfredo sauce and a few drops of the blue food coloring. It makes the sea shell noodles look like they're under the sea.
For the octopus you need hot dogs and either ketchup or mustard (whichever the kids prefer). Boil the hot dogs till cooked. To make the tentacles, cut the hot dog in half but ONLY halfway up the hot dog. then cut each half in half. Repeat until you have eight tentacles.
Then place the hot dog on top of the bowl of noodles an spread out the legs so it looks as if the octopus is sitting up. With the ketchup or mustard, draw a face for the octopus. The kids really enjoy when you get creative with their food and it adds to the theme too!
The "Life In The Sea" party was a hit. I do hope you enjoy throwing this party for your little ones special day!
