Egyptian Birthday Party Ideas : Birthday parties are always fun to plan and carry out. Last year, for my husband's birthday, I decided to do an Egyptian inspired party. I wanted it to be perfect, so I had to plan it carefully and with detail.
My husband has always had a fascination with Egypt and I wanted to please him with a unique theme. The first thing I thought about was turning my home into an Egyptian paradise. I bought Egyptian decorations. They were mostly small replicas of tombs, Pharaohs and Egyptian gods. I also decorated the walls with posters of hieroglyphics. Most of these things I was able to buy online and at "New Age" stores.
In terms of food, I researched Egyptian food and pastries. On the day of the birthday, I served the guests entrees and desserts that were authentic to Egypt. They were interesting and hard to make but it was worth it. Some of the dishes I served included basbousa, duqqa and molokheyya. I also had the guests eat sitting on the floor. I made sure to place sitting pillows all over the floor.
To make the evening more interesting, I only played music from Egypt, nothing in English. The guests had so much fun trying to dance to the music. I loved it. My husband was so pleased with the party.
One of the last things that I did was hire an Egyptian belly dancer. That was one of the surprises that I kept to myself. I did not tell anyone at the party and I definitely did not tell my hubby. When she showed up, everyone was so fascinated. Many of my guests had never seen a belly dancer perform and they had so much fun. My husband loved it more than any of the guests.
As for the cake, I made sure to get his favorite flavor, strawberry. I also got it from his favorite Cuban bakery. I made sure that they decorated the cake with pyramids. It took a lot of hard work and research, but in the end, the party was perfect. It was like nothing anyone had done.
