Carnival Zoo Birthday Party Ideas
(Ft. Stewart, Georgia)
Carnival Zoo Birthday Party Ideas: A day at the zoo carnival is a fun birthday party theme for children from ages 3 to 9 years old. To get started, think of fun invitations! We chose little monkeys in a barrel that had paper invitations inside of them. They were plastic barrels with a plastic monkey and a place for the invitation to fit. We wrote, "We're going to go bananas like apes from 2 to 8 don't be late". It was cute and theme appropriate.
For decorations we went with bright colors everywhere. We did blue, red, green, yellow, and orange. We also had a lot of balloons and props. Props were things like stacks of hay, pictures of zoo animals, tents that had games inside of them, and ticket booths that give out numbers to the rides.
Fun games are ring toss, fishing in a baby pool, a dunking machine, and water balloon busting. The dunking machine was out of our price range, but we did all of the other games. We had prizes like gold fish, hermit crabs, stuffed animals, and t shirts.
To keep with the zoo carnival birthday theme we had a popcorn machine, cotton candy machine, slushy machine (a home model), and a funnel cake stand. For a carnival party there were obviously hot dogs and hamburgers for the main meal! Think fair food.
We also had a small area for pony riding and clowns (two parents that volunteered) that were able to make balloon animals and hats for the children.
We also had a face painting stand that my older daughter ran. We even rented a lion and gorilla costume. At special moments in the party the "lion" (my husband) made an appearance and we had pictures with the kids. Later in the party the "gorilla" made an appearance and we took more shots of all the children.
We had our birthday boy's cake loaded with the zoo carnival theme. We had all kinds of plastic animals on the cake like giraffes, monkeys, and elephants, along with clowns to tie in the circus aspect.
We went all out for this party (our boy's 6th birthday), but it can be done on a smaller scale as well. The costume rental was quite inexpensive and really added a fun touch to the party. The pony ride was the most pricey aspect, but the kids looooveed it!
