Camping Birthday Party Ideas: Spooky is better! I chose a scary camping birthday party theme for my most memorable birthday ever. In my opinion, what makes a great birthday party is fun, pure and simple. Half of the fun rests in the people you choose to invite. The other half is the theme.

For some of my past birthdays they've been held at restaurants or even skating rinks, and they were alright but some of my most enjoyable parties have been outside.

I was born in June, therefore that makes me a summer birthday and summer is the best weather to host an outdoor birthday. One of my best was hosted at Deep Creek Lake state park which is about thirty minutes from my home in rural Garrett county.

Camping Birthday Party Ideas

I've always liked to have dress up parties and that year's theme was "Zombies". We decorated the trees in black streamers and had roaring bonfires everywhere. It was a scary birthday party and it rocked!

Of course we grilled meat and served soda and chips and snacks. The birthday cake was special. It was shaped like a tombstone and had a hand coming out of the ground around it, and in bloody font it said "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" I thought it was sweet.

After my friends and I ran around scaring each other in the dark my parents managed to rent out the projector the park had for showing nature films and since we were the only ones using it that night my parents showed the original "Night of the Living Dead".

It was a fun time and since it was a sleep over/ camp out party we all fell asleep in our tents that night and spent the rest of the weekend chowing down on campfire food and swimming.

Of course this type of birthday was pretty unique and I don't expect all kids or parents to use this as one of their parties. It's a good idea for young adults who like horror films to take them out on a themed camp out and let them go crazy in the woods for a weekend.

Camping Birthday Party Ideas : Food and Snacks

Outdoor birthdays are always creative ones because there's the use of the space and the simple use of a grill or campfire to make food.

You don't have to worry about having people over at your home and the mess of all of the wrapping and the leftover's can be put in the trash.

All of the hyped up guests are free to run amuck in the woods to burn off all of those cake and ice cream calories. It also allows people to come together by a campfire and share memories of the special person with the birthday so it makes the party a more intimate and unique one.

Camping Birthday Party Ideas : Age Range

I would recommend this idea to older teenagers and for adults who are just turning 21 and anyone else who enjoys being outside and around a campfire.

This was my most awesome birthday ever and I really think that a campfire birthday party is cool.
