Boys Bogging Bash Birthday Party Ideas : Dirt Bikes and Four Wheelers. I was really skeptical when my husband and brother-in-law decided having a "Bogging Bash" for my sons 11th birthday party was a cool idea.
My concerns with this idea, was the safety, and permission I would need to get from most of the parents. Dirt bikes and four wheelers are dangerous, and not all parents are willing to allow their children to ride like we allow our children.
Between my in-laws and us, there are several different kinds of sport utility type vehicles. Four wheelers, dirt bikes, and my personal favorite, doom buggies. So, to pull it off, would not be the problem, it was whether or not the other parents would go for it.
We made these awesome invitations, they looked like licences, with my sons picture in it. It stated that we would be riding motorbikes, and other sport vehicles, and safety was a must. We provided the pads, but you had to have a helmet, and your parents had to sign the invitation, and/or come to enjoy the fun as well.
We sent out ten invitations, and we were surprised when all ten kids were allowed to come, and most brought their parents along too. The importance of this idea is space. You must have a huge lot, at least two acres is what I would guess.
My husband and family spent two months preparing for this party. We bought a load of cinders to make dirt mounds, and we even made mazes for them to attempt when they were ready. We also used cones and ropes to help construct a really cool looking maze.
We had a huge cooler set up outside with Gatorade's for the kids, and beers for the adults. We BBQ'd hot dogs and hamburgers, and watched carefully as the kids romped around. The parents really enjoyed themselves too, and before we knew it, they were asking to ride too.
I think the best part of this whole experience for me, was that all ten of these boys, were kids my son hung out with on a daily basis, and I knew few of their parents. Through his 11th birthday party I gained a few more friends, and got to know the families of these children that spent so much time in my home.
Toward the end of the night my in laws brought out the cake, and I swear it was the most awesome birthday cake I had ever seen. They had found someone to make a dirt bike in a way that it looked like it was doing a wheelie with a kid sitting on the back of it. It was amazing.
My son's face was priceless. His friend's still talk about his party, and he always mentions the cake. It was a awesome day. An amazing party, and good time's all around.
