Birthday Party Princess

My daughter is a total princess (aren't they all?). For her 5th birthday we decided to go all out and throw her a party fit for her royal highness. She was the "Birthday Party Princess" for the day! We started off by gathering all her princess dress-up outfits for her friends to wear at the party.

I used a friend’s Cricket machine and cut out outlines of crowns which we decorated with sequins for the invitations. Once all the little girls were gathered and dressed, we played a couple of games like "Pin the Crown on the Frog" which is pretty self-explanatory and "Princess, Princess, Queen" which is like Duck, Duck, Goose with a crown.

We also bought fun foam crowns at a local craft store along with jewels, sequins and glitter glue and let the kids go to town! I got a great deal on some shiny fabric from the bargain bin which we glued faux fur to and hot glued ribbon on so each girl would have a cape!

Snack was warm tea and crumpets (raisin English muffins with honey butter) and I even found a citrus fruit called star fruit that when you cut it into slices they are star shaped! The girls LOVED that! We added the star fruit to our melon ball salad which I served in my grandmother’s china to make it fancier!

The decorations consisted of pearl pink and white balloons and silver mylar balloons. We also hung pink and white streamers and sprinkled faux jewels on the table. I covered the table with an antique lace tablecloth with a pink plastic tablecloth underneath it.

I made the cake myself. It was a two tiered cake decorated in bubble-gum pink icing with lavender accents (my daughter’s two favorite colors). In the center I placed one of my blown glass castles from my collection. In the gift bags I put candy jewelry, faux jewels and gold chocolate coins. It was really great and she loved being the "Birthday Party Princess"!!!
