Birthday Party Games : The Candy Bar Game
(Concord New Hampshire)
Birthday Party Games : The Candy Bar Game. This is a great game to play with just about any group of people. It’s equally popular at a young childrens party as at a family get together. To set up the game, you will need a selection of:
A good big set of ski gloves
Any other bits of dressing up items that you can find!
You’ll also want a good big space, and a table and a chair in the middle of the space. For younger kids, I recommend unwrapping the candy bars, for reasons of ease, but for adults, leaving them on just adds to the challenge!
You’re now ready to invite the guests in. Work out an order for the players, i.e. who will go first, who will go second and so on. For younger kids, let the center of attention (the birthday kid for most parties) go first, whilst for adults, going by age is usually quite funny.
The first player puts on the hat, scarf and gloves (and whatever else you managed to find), and sits down at the table. They must each as much of the candy bar as possible, using only the knife and fork to feed themselves. You can imagine how hard this is with ski gloves on!
The rest of the players take it in turn to roll the dice. If a 6 comes up (or an even number when playing with younger children), then the player in the middle must take off their “accessories” and pass them onto the new player. This needs to be done as quickly as possible.
You can make it so that the next dice roller has to wait for the new player to pick up the knife and fork, or for an extra challenge, the dice can continue to be rolled whilst the changeover happens. Obviously the latter means that some people might not get to eat any of the candy bars!
Keep playing till:
a) someone throws up
b) there’s no more candy
c) everyone has collapsed from laughter!
