This is a goofy birthday party game for teenagers and young adults! Always a hilarious hit. The game is best when there are at least 10 players (and one leader), but may be modified for a smaller gathering.
The necessary supplies are a box of toothpicks and a roll of ring-shaped candy, such as Lifesavers. You may already have enough toothpicks around the house, since you only will need one toothpick per player.
Some people prefer to play this game with a nut or washer instead of a candy, but the candy is lighter and makes for a slightly sticky, funnier game!
To play, first divide the group into to teams, with one person leftover to be the leader. Each team forms a straight line standing side-by-side with their teammates. It doesn't matter how the two teams are arranged relative to one another, but each team needs enough space to form a line.
At this point, each player places a toothpick in their mouth so that it is about halfway inside their lips and halfway out, and clenches it there, so it's sticking out of their mouth.
All players now put their hands behind their backs! The leader now takes a candy and places it around the toothpick of the player on the nearest end of each team. The candy is ring-shaped, so it should slide right down onto the toothpick and stay on comfortably.
At this point there are two lines of people with toothpicks in their mouths, and the person at one end of each line has a candy hanging on their toothpick! Now the fun begins.
The object of the game is to transfer the candy down the line, from person to person, from toothpick to toothpick, but hands must stay behind players' backs the entire time. So, when the leader says "Go!", the first player in each line must move his or her face very very close to the next player's face, and the two of them must somehow fenagle the candy onto the second person's toothpick.
Usually the transfer process involves lots of awkward bending and stooping, and obviously looks hilarious to all other players as they look on. Many times it ends up looking like kissing, which is always entertaining to the other players. The first team to successfully transfer the candy all the way down to the last person in their line wins!
BUT: If at any point the candy is dropped, or touched by any body part other than a face, the team must start over, with the leader placing a brand new candy on the first player's toothpick.
The supplies for this game cost next to nothing, and it's a great way to get teenagers and young adults interacting and set a lively mood. Always provides hearty laughs, and players are certain to want a rematch!
