Billy's Go Cart Race Car Birthday Party

by Billy's Mom

For my sons 7th birthday party the theme was go-cart racing. He loved to race the go-carts at our small go-cart track we have just outside of town so we decide that the party would be based around racing go-carts.

The cake was a large sheet cake with a racing scene depicted. Two little go-carts were place upon the cake and were actually die-cast toys that he was allowed to play with afterwards.

In the invitations we had hinted to all of the guests that Billy (birthday boy) really liked racing toys and would really appreciate it if a gift was brought (not required) that it be of the racing type. This really went over well as Billy received loads of cards and toys that were all racing related.

The party started with pizza being delivered and everyone sitting down to eat as a group...I said a small prayer over the food and thanked God for what a special young man he had blessed me with and today was a celebration of his birth. Dinner went really well, plenty of pizza kids laughing parents smiling and just a great time.

After dinner was the time when the cake was brought out(I cannot remember the exact size but it was very large because we had about 75 people including kids and parents). Then the candles were lit and Happy Birthday was sung and the gifts were passed out.

He had so much fun with the gifts because there were some really neat race cars cards. He got tons of race cars and several race car tracks. I have not seen that many race car toys since LOL...

After the cake and ice cream had settled a bit I was ready for my surprise to the birthday party... we had reserved the go-cart park for a 4 hour block and managed to purchase everyone their two tickets for the go-cart rides.

I thought the parents would be reluctant to ride but once that first parent stepped up to ride then it was on. What fun seeing many of the parents and children laughing and truly having a wonderful time...

My son was so in his element riding the go-carts over and over. Looking back on that party (it was 8 years ago I still have such wonderful memories) it was the most memorable of all the kids birthday party themes that I threw.

Even some of my sons friends who were there still remind me of that day when we all went go-cart riding. Some people say it was foolish to spend the kind of money I did that day but to see my son and also the faces of some of the parents who could not afford to do these types of things with their kids the smiles and pure happiness was soooooooooo worth it...

I have totally enjoyed writing this and have taken a step back and I am smiling now. My advice to any parent planning a themed party is this...

Have a theme...Be flexible and Have Fun!!!!
