Beach Birthday Party In Your Own Backyard

An awesome birthday party theme for teenage kids, especially when the weather is nice out is a beach birthday party theme. Not everyone is afforded the luxury of living near a beach so with these great party tips you can bring the beach to you!

It's a backyard beach party! There are several different things you need to prepare for in order to throw an amazing beach party. The food at a beach themed party should be a reminder of what we snack on to beat the heat of those warm summer days. Besides cold beer for the adults, think ice cream and icees for the kids.

When families think of beach fare, there is the classic BBQ of hamburgers and hot dogs plus all the healthiness of tropical fruits with lots of chips and pretzels to nibble on. If a BBQ is not available for the party, you can't go wrong with a sandwiches for everyone to enjoy.

Next up is the decorations. When we close our eyes and think of the colors that associate best with the beach we get bright and tropical shades. So look for primary colors like yellow, orange, blue, green and red. This makes putting beach party decorations together so much fun. Get poster board in bright colors and cut it in the shape of beach balls, the sun, waves, a surfboard and use these as decorations on the wall.

To go for that real beach feel you can make fake beach signs for your guests to guide them to the party. Use the birthday guest of honors name for the signs. So for example the signs might have a big arrow on them and say, "This Way to Peter's Beach" or, "Warning Rip Tides at Sarah's Beach."

Then you need all your beach accessories such as beach balls, brightly colored towels and beach chairs. Fun games like volley ball and frisbee can be played. If it's in your budget, get a kids plastic swimming pool and fill it with sand. Then have beach buckets and shovels and have a sand castle making contest. This sounds like it's for younger kids, but you'd be surprised how teenage guests will love it! (I had a beach birthday party for my 15th birthday and we did this and it was so much fun.)

For music at the beach you can stick to oldies such as the Beach Boys and the soundtrack to Grease. Get creative with everything and do not be afraid to indulge in creating a perfect tropical get away. Your guests will thank you for the relaxing and fun time to be shared at your next beach themed birthday party.
