I couldn't stop at one so I have 6 Adult Birthday Party Theme Ideas! I've shared Medieval Times, Scavenger Dash, White Trash, Makeover, Beach Theme and Iron Chef. These are all adult birthday party theme concepts that I've done with my friends. Enjoy!
Adult Birthday Party Theme 1 : Medieval Times
Birthday parties don't need to be extravagant or expensive to be really fun and memorable. For my 28th birthday, a large group of my friends and I wanted to go to Medieval Times.
None of us had been there since we were kids so we decided to get tiaras and crowns and really go for the fun aspect that one loses after the last real landmark birthday, the 21st.
The price was holding some people back from saying they would definatly go so I did some VERY quick internet research. We found a coupon code that allowed buy one, get one tix and made our reservations.
It was so much fun and the people at our castle really made it special, even though we didn't opt for the birthday package.
If you want to go for one of those shoestring budget kind of birthdays, here are some ideas for pretty much any age:
Adult Birthday Party Theme 2: Classic Scavenger Hunt for Adults
The Scavenger Hunt: We play this game with a twist; break off into teams or play individually. Eash person takes an item and hides it somewhere in the house, in the neighborhood or in the city (depending on how much time you have and how far you're willing to go).
You print out slips of paper with the same clue on it and each person or team gets a clue from all the other teams. You're then in a race to find each other's objects. The person that returns by a set time with the most objects wins.
We usually deem that if someone finds the object, they have to leave a notice at the spot so the other teams know it's been found and aren't wasting too much time just wandering around.
Adult Birthday Party Theme 3: Face Painting Party for Girly Girls
The face painting party: All you need is some after-the-holiday, clearanced out make-up and a few friends. You can be as detailed, funny or collaborative as you'd like.
Have a contest you ask your neighbors to judge or post photos on your Facebook and have them "like" the photos to vote. Add some cheap carry-out pizza and a loud iPod and you have a party.
Adult Birthday Party Theme 4: White Trash Party
The White Trash Party: We did this theme for a friend's birthday and it cost us a whopping $75 for food, drinks and decorations for over 50 people. $1 microwave dinners, the cheapest soda you can find and Twinkies with candles in them always make for a lot of laughter and fun.
We took old miss-matched board games that were missing pieces and made up new games, had a costume contest on the trashiest dressed person (The Paris Hilton look-alike wearing a white garbage bag toga won), and watched Pink Flamingos.
Adult Birthday Party Theme 5: Beach Party
The Beach Party: This is an old classic because it takes very little planning, very little money and has something for everyone.
You're friends really have to be collaborative with this one. Pick a day, tell your friends, have everyone confirm that they're bringing some kind of food, game or musical instrument and you're all set.
Grocery stores have great fried chicken deals that are inexpensive, frisbees and beach balls can be found at the Dollar Store year round and everyone knows someone with a guitar. Add in a fire pit and some blankets and you have an entire day of fun on the cheap.
To make this a great birthday party, use sparklers as candles on the cake and don't serve it until after sunset. Just remember to keep it in it's own cooler in the car until the big moment.
Adult Birthday Party Theme 6 : Iron Chef Birthday Party
The Iron Chef Party: What's everyone's favorite thing to do on their birthday? EAT CAKE! So why not have a party where you bake a few different kinds of small loaf cakes, cupcakes, shaped cakes, whatever strikes your mood, and decorate them.
You can get creative with the flavors, try new recipes, and you don't even have to stop at cake!
Have people bring over stuff to cook their favorite meals and have them teach everyone how to make it. If you get enough people together your evening will turn into a fancy four course dinner complete with desert trays. Add a cheap rental or Netflix instant stream and you're all set.
Kai's Birthday Party Planning Tips
Birthdays have a bad reputation for being stressful because of the time, effort, expense and planning that has to go into them.
Take away some of those stressors and even though it's not the penthouse at the Bellagio, it could turn out to be one of your favorite and most memorable birthdays ever.
If you do plan on having an outing, always remember to check online to find out if there are any special deals for birthday parties or groups of a certain size. Some eateries offer free meals, private rooms (for a small fee) or treats for those celebrating a birthday.
By simply searching Google with words like "coupon", "free" and "birthday" followed by your zip code, you can find everything from email clubs to coupon codes.
