Adult Birthday Games

Adult Birthday Games Theme for Adults: My boyfriend LOVES games; board games, video games, card games... You name it, he loves it. So for his birthday, I decided a game theme would be fantastic. I did lots of board game decorations for the party and also set up a ton of games for everyone to play.

I took all the board games and card games either one of us had and stacked them at the front of the room to look like a pyramid. Whenever we wanted to play a game, the person who chose which game to play had to pull it out of the pyramid without the pyramid falling over (I'd strong suggest taping the boxes shut if you want to do this!) so that it was like a game of Jenga any time we played a new game.

The whole night was spent on games. All of the guests played multiple board games, cards and dice games. We had prizes for each winner from each game that were tokens to the local games park. We told everyone they were only redeemable if Scott (my boyfriend) was with them!

The Big Game

We also had a video game grand championship contest. It was the Forza Motorsport 2 racing game. What we did was had everyone play one game against one other person. The winners of those went on to the next level of the contest.

They then were pitted against one other person in that second level. The winners went on to the final level. There were 3 contestants left at the end, and they had to do an ultimate race rally to determine the grand champion!

It seems more time consuming than it really was. We had that set up in the den, and we just called people's names when it was time for them to compete. Then when those two were done, two more would compete. The majority of the party was in the living room.

Adult Birthday Games Decorations and Cake

I also made a basic sheet cake (I made chocolate, but any flavor will work!) and decorated it to look like the board for Monopoly. To do this, you can go to any crafting or baking specialty store and buy varied colors of frosting without making to mix flavors.

I also made some cookies and decorated them with frosting and sprinkles to look like the characters or mascots from different board games: the capital Q from Quelf, the capital P from Pictionary, the money bag from Monopoly, RISK (done to look like the actual board game), and a multitude of others.

They looked great! For decorations, I took Yahtzee score cards and folded them into airplanes, then hung them from the ceiling. On each card, I wrote a different score and at the end of the party, everyone grabbed one down. Whoever had the highest score won a cute little door prize. It was a board game of course! We gave them a copy of Loaded Questions, which is one of our favorite adult birthday games.

On the kitchen table, I used blue painter's tape (since it won't stain or ruin anything) and made a checker board, then bought red and black napkins and stacked them to look like a game of checkers had been played. It was a great time!
