Midlife Crisis is an icebreaker mingling game for a 50th birthday party that is really, really fun! We did it at my fiftieth and it was hilarious. What you'll need are index cards, markers, tape or sticky tack.

Preparation: Prepare the cards beforehand by writing the name of a famous character, a kind of animal, inanimate object etc. on one side of the card. Make at least one card for each guest, but extras are always good to have.

Make sure there is adequate space at the party for guests to move around and gesticulate wildly!

When the guests arrive at the door, let them know they've suffered a midlife crisis and taken on a new persona. Attach one card to each guest's forehead. They are not allowed to see their card, ask another person directly what their card is, or tell another person what is written on a card.

Instead, as the guests mingle, they will act out the character written on another person's card.

Example: Person A has "Elvis Presley" written on forehead. Person B approached Person A and started to gyrate, play guitar, and curls up lip. Person A guesses that they are Elvis Presley!

The rules: There can be no spoken clues! I.e. Don't walk up to the person and say "You're the KING!" If someone is an animal, like a cow, do not walk up to them and say "MOO". A better option would be to mime milking a cow, or chewing cud.

Allowances can be make for some inanimate objects. For example, if a person were a lawnmower, they might be able to make some rumbling sounds. Use your judgment to ensure that everything is as funny and entertaining as possible!

The game continues on until everyone is able to guess what their character is. If there is still one person left, every one should pitch in and act out the character together for maximum confusion, chaos, and fun!

If anyone guesses incorrectly, have them do a punishment, or possibly a penalty shot/beer.

Examples of fun personas:

Beyonce

Robin Williams

Indiana Jones

Optimus Prime

The Terminator

A vacuum cleaner

A squirrel

A Hell’s Angel

NASCAR driver

Marilyn Monroe

A crab

A Rockette

Santaclaus

Out of all the 50th birthday games at my party, this one was the best. I highly suggest you give it a try...
